Umbrella
December 7, 2007Rain or shine I never leave the house without an umbrella. Except last Wednesday. True to Alanis Morissette’s Ironic I found out I didn’t have it when it was already raining. I searched my bag several times believing in my daughter’s line “lilitaw na lang yun.” I just hoped it appeared soon but it didn’t. Many will agree that sometimes we use the same bag on consecutive days, even disregarding fashion sense when it didn’t match our shoes or clothes, for fear of leaving something essential in the course of bag change. I’ve been using the same bag for a week so the umbrella in question couldn’t possibly be in the former bag. Maybe it got stolen. I remember seeing my bag partially open while waiting for my ride the previous night.
I always have words to say about people who leave their houses without an umbrella even if PAGASA announced that there as ITCZ or tropical depression. There are only two seasons in the
Damn thieves. I became one of those people who pray that it’s not raining in their destinations. There are the “pasukob” types but I wouldn’t go that low. I’m sure the enterprising sidewalk vendor has an umbrella I could buy.
My prayer was granted. I managed to reach the office dry. Since then I look at umbrella-less people with insight and new perspective. Maybe they were victims of theft too.
Tough luck.
