Survivor…… naaah!
September 16, 2008I just had to watch the pilot episode of Survivor Philippines which aired tonight. I’m curious to see my ex-future-fellow castaways.
No I did not audition for Survivor. I just almost did. The first time I saw the ad calling for auditions I felt that I just had to try it. Pagalingan. Pautakan. Pabilisan. I am magaling. Definitely mautak. I’m mabilis… sort of.
So Jinky and I went to SM Manila. Then we saw hundreds upon hundreds of people who had the same plan as we did. Oldies, youngsters and everybody in between. Male, female and also everybody in between. They were in queue. We just got there. And the end of the line was somewhere in Mehan Garden, if not the Post Office. We did not see it. It was noontime and there’s no way I’m going to stand under that heat. And smell like the rest of humanity otherwise known as Survivor hopefuls. Probably not.
The airconditioned mall looked more enticing. We went inside and had steak for lunch.
It’s a jungle out there
September 15, 2008 We went to Jungle Joe’s World for our educational field trip. It should have been fun except that typhoon Marce was still showing its might.
We didn’t get to explore Jurassic Trail because of the intermittent rain but that’s okay. My daughter and I are not fans of reptiles. Specially if they are giants… and extinct. And if our shoes will get all muddy just so we can marvel at their replicas I’ll pass. Next attraction please.

We went to Winter Wonderland where cut sponges make for fake snow. Jungle Joe probably haven’t heard of snow-maker yet. Or styropor bits. Cheska did not want to sit on Santa’s lap because he’s still after all a stranger. “It’s just costume.” she said. Who raised that kid?

Facts and figures. I forgot the total land area of Jungle Joe’s World. I just remember that only 7 hectares is developed so far and 3 toilets for that size of land. So it’s a jungle under a theme park’s clothing.
The hotlight is on!!
September 1, 2008
I just came home from the first ever Friends of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts & Coffee Party. It was held at the Krispy Kreme SM Mall of Asia Factory & Drive-thru store, which will officially open on Friday, September 5.
We had as much Original Glazed doughnuts as we wanted. Coffee was also free flowing. That guy on the left goes around giving refills. I’m not a coffee drinker but I had a cup specially for this night. It was coffee and doughnuts party after all. The decaf went well with me.
New found friends courtesy of Krispy Kreme: Nancy and Genevive from Cebu and Jo from Maya Kitchen. Nancy and Gen went to Krispy Kreme to buy doughnuts for pasalubong and did not know the store was not open to the public yet. It was so nice of the staff to invite them to the party.
(L) Posing for the paparazzis and MTV cameramen. (R) Posing with the big bosses of Krispy Kreme. Boy, they are really big.
We did not win in the raffle but we were more than happy with our party loot - a dozen original glazed doughnuts and a shirt specially made for Friends of Krispy Kreme.
The first customer to ring the cash register (dine in and drive-thru) on September 5 each gets a year supply of original glazed doughnuts. Second gets 6-months supply, third gets 3-months supply and fourth to 100th gets a month supply.
I’m still thinking about queueing up.
