Amendment to Estudyante Blues

October 25, 2007

This surely tops my list of great kodak moments inside San Beda College – Law classrooms. Syempre ako ang bida eh.

 Nego

Two ladies had contradicting answers to the same question. Being lucky in games of chance my class card was drawn…

Atty. Aquino: Sena, do you agree?

Me: (with an inquisitive look) Sir, with whom? (then pointing at the two ladies) With her? Or with her?

Along with the “Sit down.” came 70 – my recitation grade. Hehehe!

Estudyante blues

Whoever said that studying Law is a serious business must have been the professor. Maybe it was Judge Lopez who said it in Crim 1. When I enrolled for Crim Pro a year after he was already baptized J. Lo. Sure we go to the library everyday. This is only because the cold quiet environment is good for afternoon nap. When sleep is hard to come by we check out Hipon (Shrimp) studying at the other end. Like her crustacean namesake you would only wish for her body but pay no attention to the head….er, face that is. There’s Horsey, so named because of the annoying tak-tak-tak sound her shoes create while walking thus disturbing our REMs. She was later renamed Zebra (we daresay she evolved) because of the striped black and white outfit. Who would forget What’s-wrong-with-the-picture? Until now her real name does not easily come to mind.

The following incidents elicited laughs right after the professor left the classroom:

Crim 2

Tano: Sir, in qualified piracy  …… (articles 122 and 123 got mixed up)

Atty. Kho: Class, do you agree?

Class: No sir.

Atty. Kho: O, your classmates don’t agree.

Tano: I don’t care.

Atty Kho: I also don’t agree. Now, do you care? Sit down

Stat Con

Atty. Ginez: Why do we need to know the prevailing conditions at the time the law was passed?

Danny: Sir….we need to know the prevailing conditions at the time the law was passed because ….(nambobola) and  because it is of national interest.

Atty. Ginez: Why?

Danny: Because it is of national interest, sir.

Atty Ginez: (galit na) If you say national interest one more time I will give you a grade of 65. Ok, now tell me, why do we need to know the (you know the rest )

Danny: Sir, because of national interest.

(and my favorite)

In Persons, Fabian was called upon to recite. While he stood waiting for the question Atty. Abadilla in a very soft voice said, “Are you just going to strike a pose?” Obviously Fabian did not hear it because he answered, “Yes ma’am.” He was given the proverbial “Sit down.”

For the first time

October 18, 2007

The inspiration to create a blog first came last summer while walking along the Batad Rice Terraces. Lisette said something about us (along with Dondee) having gone to most of the Philippines’ tourist destinations that we were already on our second cycle of country tour. We returned to Batad after five years because we were drawn by its photo on the front page of a major newspaper. While admiring the amphitheater-like rice terraces we felt sad for the other tourists, Filipinos and foreigners alike, who came to Banaue but only saw the rice terraces at Barangay Viewpoint which can be seen along the highway. This is where I thought of creating a blog - to share to the world the beauty of the Philippines, to chronicle our travel adventures, share our latest finds and reviews of food and restos, write about our favorite food and ….  did I mention food?
